We Will Remember Them
"We Will Remember Them"
1st Pensnett BB had the honour and pleasure of attending the afternoon performance of this years Royal Bristh Legion Festival of Remembrance at the Royal Albert Hall. As a company 1st Pensnett supports the work of the local Branch of the British Legion in Netherton West Midlands. A most humbling and amazing time was had by all. The lads represented the BB with dignity and pride and even came away with some band tips. This is just one example of how as company 1st Pensnett serves the wider community. Shoulder to Shoulder we stand together.

Mayors Civic Service
The Worshipful Mayor of Worcester Civic Service Sunday 19th June 2011
Held at Worcester Cathedral the annual Mayoral Civic Service was represented, at late notice on behalf of the Battalion and Executive by an Officer and Staff Sergeant from 1st Pensnett Company. It was a well attended event despite also being held on Fathers Day by representatives from a wide range of organisations from the adult and youth voluntary sectors and community services from across the County along with dignitaries from the civic arena's , education establishments, civil services, elected councillors, the legal community and many others. Perhaps it would be a good time now if Company Captains may like to consider volunteering themselves along with a member of their Company for next years event to represent the Battalion ( 2 seats are available by invitation). The service commenced at 10.30 and finished at 11.45am.

1st Pensnett Camp 2011
| Between May 27th -May 31st 1st Pensnett along with members from 1st Gornal BB, 1st Gornal GB and 1st Woodside GB all went to the West Midlands District Camping Centre in Dyffryn Ardudwy North Wales. It was a weekend of much fellowship and fun. It saw officers going beyond all limits even wearing a Tutu or dressing in cow costumes. It saw the WMD President doing the ChCha Slide and saw team work in action. Team Challenges,Night Hikes and the pilgrim trip to Barmouth made a wonderful weekend. The Highlight of the weekend was the Camp Concert when indeed there were some sights to be seen. Although it was short girls and boys together grew closer in Faith, shared many a hot soapy washing up bowl and learnt the art of learning to tidy ones room. We really did Rock the Boat and became story tellers not just story keepers. |

A Day Out at Alrewas
On Saturday 9th July 5 members of the Junior Section from 1st Pensnett BB attended the Fun Day organised by the West Midlands District at The National Memorial Arboretum, Alrewas. The weather was exceptionally kind and it was, indeed, a great day out. A series of activities had been arranged in different areas of the site, naturally we started off in the Boys Brigade Gardens going on to the Post Office Gardens then on to the Stone Masons area before finding the Aircraft Carrier in the Fleet Air Arm Garden and on to the Merchant Navy before finishing in the play area for refreshments. We missed going on to the War Memorial site – think we got miss directed on that one by helping carry some of the refreshments!! Could be we just missed it!! The favourite garden for us was the Post Office we did not realise how many different engravings there are on a Post Box!!!
A great deal of effort had obviously been put in by the staff of the District and this was much appreciated and enjoyed by the Companies attending from across the district. It was, however, a pity that there was not more from our own Battalion attending as the lads enjoyed meeting the other boys. It was also a new experience for the lads and brought home to them the importance and significance of the site and the history of the bygone years and current conflicts.
